Snow in Australia

"Surf in the Morning - Snow Ski in the Afternoon"

Though most of Australia is rather dry it has some very good snowfields

Snow Skiing in Australia

Australia is a very diverse countryside; there are deserts, rain forests, tropical regions, dry mountain ranges that are thousands and thousands of years old, sand dunes and salt flats. You name it, Australia has it.

Nevertheless Australia has a number of choice, easy to approach snowfields suitable for a large range of activities for experienced skiiers and family outings.

There are great facilities at all the resorts and ideal one-day excursion destinations within reach of major cities and highways.

The Great Dividing Range runs the full length of the eastern seaboard of Australia and the southern parts, lower New South Wales and eastern Victoria, are quite high and with the colder southern winters excellent snow seasons are very regular if not annual.

Famous names include Thredbo, Perisher Valler, Mount Hotham and Mount Buller. All resorts and popular snowfields have excellent websites where you can even check the live cam reports of what the conditions are like at ant time.

Snow fields in Australia

Across the water on the Apple Isle of Tasmania are some of the world most rugged slopes and great snow drifts. With a couple of hours from Hobart and Launceston the Ben Lomond National Park and the Mount Field National Park are just two excellent places to enjoy the snow downunder.
