Western Australia: Southern Central

"Reef, Beef, Dairy and the Odd Tourist - What a Menu"

Close Enough to Perth Yet So Far Away it Feels Remote - and So Much to Do

Southern Central Regional Guide

Rockingham and Mandurah on to Bunbury along the southern Indian Ocean coastline to the Darling Ranges and beyond into the heartland of Western Australia's wheat belt. This is the agricultural heartbeat of Western Australia. Sea produce, land produce and tourism all combine to make this region one of the most productive in Australia.

In the Peel Region and the City of Mandurah there are natural wonders, wonderful ocean beaches and estuaries and wildlife in abundance. Even right in the suburbs there are 'beware of kangaroo' signs along the main roads and the back streets. There is a relaxing balance of nature remaining amongst and close by the amenities that the city provides.

The Darling Ranges provide many wonderful drives and the now famous Bibbulmun Track which stretches over a thousand kilometres right thru the Southern Central Highlands to Albany on the South Coast. Historic towns like Collie and Harvey have great activities and places to see and a number of lakes and dams in the hills provide plenty of action for water sport enthusiasts.
