Sydney Beaches
Beaches in Sydney
The very best the SYDNEY has to offer

Sydney's Beaches stretch from Palm Beach near the Hawkesbury River in the north to Bundeena in the Royal National Park on
the southern outskirts of the suburbs. Most of the Sydney beaches face the Pacific Ocean in the east, so you will find surfers, swimmers, walkers
and often the romantic's on the beaches early to catch the Sydney sunrise.
There is nothing like watching the sun rise over the beach in Sydney, a wonderful sight you should not miss. Log that into
your diary for when you next visit.
Sydney's climate allows people to visit and enjoy the beaches all year round; swimming in the winter months (June,
July and August) could be a little cool but you will find many of the surfboard riders out chasing the larger winter waves. It is real beach
season in Sydney once the winter chill has disappeared. "Slip, Slop, Slap!" That's SLIP on a shirt, SLOP on some sun screen and SLAP on a hat.
Sun protection in Australia is very important, the summer sun, wind and reflection from the sea can cause severe skin burning, so cover up!
Sydney beaches are very accessible. Manly is very popular and much of the fun is getting there. You simply board a ferry
at Circular Quay dock and take the journey across the fabulous Sydney Harbour. Make sure you take along sure your board and umbrellas. The ferry
docks at Manly Cove next to the amusement pier and near the aquarium. The surf beach is a short walk though the Corso which is bussing with a variety
shops, restaurants and fast food stores. Once there you will find the Norfolk Pine trees lining the wide, long white sandy beaches and the clear blue
water just bursts into view. Sounds great doesn't it!
Around Middle Harbour and Sydney Harbour just north of the Harbour Bridge, there are other beaches, like Clontarf,
Chinamans, Balmoral, and Obelisk. Balmoral is one of the prettiest harbour beaches. East of the Sydney Harbour Bridge across Port Jackson is Shark
Beach, all of these beaches are accessible by Sydney Buses.
Sydney's south offers beaches like the most popular Bondi, then there is Tamarama, Bronte, Clovelly, Coogee and Maroubra
Beaches and onto Cronulla beach. Here you can jump on a ferry at Gunnamatta Bay and cross to Bundeena beach in the Royal National Park.
Or climb aboard a Sydney Government Bus to get there.
As you can see Sydney is dotted with many beaches and it is almost an Aussie religion that families take the
weekly pilgrimage to the beach. There is so much social interaction at Aussie beaches, where you will often find people gathered together
playing cricket or volleyball.
Just about every surf beach in Sydney is patrolled by volunteering surf life savers, and it is recommended that you
bath between the flags at all times.
Sydney's beaches are beautiful and there are many close to the city, so many to just enjoy!
