"The Famous Coathanger and Sails and a Spectacular Harbour"
One of the most Picturesque Cities in the world
Sydney has everything one would ever want in a city. Bursting with character, it is a vibrant, dynamic and very accessible city and has every service possible with libraries, swimming pools, art galleries and museums, parks and gardens, playgrounds and the necessary things like good hospitals and doctors surgeries. It also has handy Tourist Information booths and a transport system that can take you anywhere.
People come to Australia and Sydney from all over the world to be educated. Sydney's Universities compare with the best in the world. Australia and Sydney's public schools are situated in every city and town throughout the country. There are also many privately operate schools working very comfortably inline with the public system.
Sydney like other Australian States and Territories have a number of schools catering for the handicapped, blind and disabled. The RDA (Riding for the Disabled) would be a good example.
All Australians are covered by a National Health System paid for by the government from a percentage of all Australian Taxes. The system is a good one and generally covers everyone and works well. Sydney has many walk-in medical centres offering doctor's services. There are casualty out-patient receptions in almost public hospitals that are open 24 hours. There are also many privately operated Hospitals in Sydney.
The Sydney Ambulance Service is government operated and the people that work in the back ground and behind the wheel are very well trained, understanding and extremely hard workers.
Sydney Libraries offer a great deal, besides reading material, many have free internet, history and archives, maps and visitors guide to mention just a few. A good place to start would be the City of Sydney Library, telephone them on: 02 9242 8555.
Sydney's public toilets. It really is a good idea for tourists, visitors and Aussies alike to know how to find the closest toilet. Go to www.toiletmap.gov.au they are all listed.
Sydney will not disappoint!
